We are in the hot summer days that many of us look forward to. Of course, we do not want to fight with illnesses that upset us when we can enjoy the sea, sand and sun on these beautiful days.

I will tell you about some urological diseases that increase in the summer months and suggested solutions.

Our motto is clear!!

Of course, it is our must to ensure sufficient water consumption.

As temperatures rise in summer, excessive sweating is the main cause of water loss in the body. We must not forget that the amount of fluid we lose is greater than ever.

Nowadays, it is much more important to make the slogan “VALUE YOUR KIDNEY” our motto in life.

Remember that increasing fluid loss, decreasing urine volume and urine concentration increase the risk of stone formation.

We should consume at least 2 liters of water per day!

There are many factors involved in stone formation, particularly genetic characteristics. Lifestyle changes are among the modifiable factors.

Drink plenty of water on these hot days, no less than 2-2.5 liters; it is very important to have a diet low in protein and salt and rich in fiber-rich fruits and vegetables. Of course, regular exercise and walks are necessary to stay fit and enjoy the summer more.

Urinary tract infections are more common in the summer months

Another urological disease that occurs more frequently in the summer months is urinary tract infections.

This situation is directly related to insufficient water intake to prevent increased fluid loss. Due to increased fluid loss, the amount of urine decreases and the concentrated urine remains in the bladder longer, which increases the risk of urinary tract infections.

An increase in urinary tract infections is observed due to swimming in insufficiently clean pools and seas, increased use of tight clothing and underwear, and wet and damp clothing.

The frequency of sexual activity increases in the summer months

During the summer months, the frequency of sexual activity increases. In addition to the deterioration of personal hygiene due to increased sweating, urinary tract infections also occur due to the careless use of contraceptive methods such as spermicides and pleurisy. Undesirable situations can be prevented by taking care not to swim in the sea or pool in places considered unclean, drinking plenty of fluids, urinating early after sexual activity and cleaning the genital area.

I hope everyone has a nice summer.

We hope to meet you in blue sea and warmer beaches!
